Physicians: Remember the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service

 

Physicians needing help solving their problems with the IRS can use the free and independent Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) within the IRS. The TAS assists taxpayers who are unable to resolve tax problems through normal IRS channels, who feel an IRS procedure is not working properly, or whose problems are causing financial difficulty. TAS can help taxpayers—businesses, as well as individuals—with problems that are causing financial difficulty or significant cost, including the cost of professional representation. Each state has at least one local Taxpayer Advocate whose phone number can be found in Pub. 1546 and at www.irs.gov/advocate
