Emphasize teamwork to motivate staff

Help staffers recognize how their work affects coworkers across departments. For instance, if you set a collection quota for the billing staff, reward receptionists, too. After all, accurate registration and insurance verification boosts collections, too.

Find ways to communicate your vision for the practice, and reward employee performance that helps you fulfill it. Take time to walk around the office and ask staffers about their work.

Thank them for a job well done; tell them you appreciate how other "mundane" duties enable you to provide medical care for as many people as possible.
