Consider involving your practice in philanthropic activities

Getting your entire practice involved in community-minded activities—like cancer walks or local health fairs—gives your practice valuable public exposure and helps foster a spirit of teamwork and enthusiasm among staff.

Aside from motivating existing staff, your practice’s involvement in community activities can also be a powerful recruitment tool. In a survey conducted by the Cambridge, MA, chapter of Students for Responsible Business, 43% of respondents said they would not work for an employer who wasn’t a good corporate citizen.

Statistics also indicate that making philanthropic activities part of the job can boost job satisfaction and retention rates as well. The Cone/Ropper Cause Trend Report shows that 87% of employees at companies with cause programs said they felt a strong sense of loyalty to their employers. In addition, 56% of respondents said they wished their companies would do more to support a cause or issue.
